Sewing Machine Cover

Follow me on:

I bought a new sewing machine a few weeks ago, and we are building a new sewing room. With constructions comes lots of dust that I do not want on my sewing machines. I don't have sheet rock yet, but I do have the fabric for the curtains I want.. but not enough of it to make machine covers.
Every single sewing machine and serger is a different shape and size so they all need a custom made cover. I decided to go with a base color and add embroidery that will coordinate with my future curtains.
I know I am not the only one who leaves my sewing machines set up and ready to sew. This cover provides a great way to keep the machine protected and is easy to put on and off the machine. Make a cover and take pictures to share! Send me pictures of your cover and I'll post them all so others can gain inspiration.

These same steps for a sewing machine cover could also be applied to some kitchen appliances as well. They also come in various sizes and shapes, and there really isn’t a “one size fits all” for these either.

Thanks for a most timely article!

They could… I have small appliance covers on line that have a “softer” curve to them.
Once you figure out the basics of making a cover you can make one for almost anything.
I did add notes to the mower cover instructions though… we had a cover with flannel backing that the mice made a nest of the flannel.. well hidden in the motor Yikes!

I really like that sewing machine cover. I’ve always wanted to make one for my machine, but somehow that’s at the bottom of the list. Maybe this project will move it higher on the list!
Thanks!!

I’m glad you like it! It doesn’t take long to make one…. and it looks pretty sitting out. Go for it, you won’t regret it.

Just finished a Sewig machine cover and a serger cover. I used Dimout lining (room darkening drapery lining) as the lining to make it even more dustproof. The Dimout is tightly woven and as a light rubberized backing. Works a treat.
