Sewing to go Camping

Tuesday June 24, 2008
When we go camping, the transportation needs to have plenty of toting room... and never seems to be big enough. Double duty is the name of the game. Things like a beach towel that can double as a pillow are a perfect solution. I usually use pillow shams instead of pillow cases because extras can easily be packed inside with the pillow.
Tote bags are an absolute necessity! Simple string back packs are a great thing to have for hikes and don't take up the space that regular back packs do.
Toiletry items and first aid items need to be kept clean. These Bags With A Zipper Closure are a perfect solution. I have them with everyones name embroidered and one with an ambulance embroidered on it that gets hung in plain view on the camp site so it's always available it it's needed.
Camping at About.com has everything you could need to get ready for your camping vacation... and great camping recipes!
Most important... don't forget to pack that bag of yo-yo makings so you can sew on the beach and by campfire. There are so many things you can make with yo-yos, that you'll be getting a great start on your Christmas sewing.
