Mending!
Saturday July 12, 2008
My husband is an electrician and I have extension cords everywhere to fill my "plug it in" needs. I work to teach the world how to sew via this site and write sewing books, while he has more shirts that need buttons than shirts that have all their buttons.... I guess that makes us even.
I really want a new outlet in the bedroom so this week I'm going to butter up hubby by attacking the mending pile.... emptying the mending pile will give me more space in the sewing room... a nice added bonus!

THANK YOU! I have taken the (good) jeans with the broken zipper out of the rag bag and FIXED them! My son is extatic!
I usually try to keep the mending down by mending one thing before I create something fun …..After the hard things have sat there long enough(usually the kids have grown out of whatever)I put it in the rag bag. Now I am inspited! Thank you
One of the husbands at the recent ASG conference in Chicago stated “Asking a seamstress to mend is like asking Michelangelo to paint the garage!” Guess that sums up most of us when it comes to mending.
I also, “reward” myself by mending first, crafting second. Re: buttons–a seamstress friend of mine told me to use 4 strands of thread to sew on buttons faster. works for me.
