We had a Last Minute Picnic
Tuesday September 2, 2008
We have been putting an addition on our house for what seems like an eternity... the good news is that it will be what we want when we are done... the bad news is that it is taking what seems like forever. We had the entire past weekend slated for construction but the nice weather caused our kids to have another idea... POOL Party... with mom cooking.
They cooperated with picking up last minute items at the store and I found my kitchen.... it had been under a major pile of sheet rock dust... the bad news is that after a full summer of barbecues, my picnic potholders need replacing.... nothing like that sticky barbecue sauce to mess up a nice potholder. I'll be making potholders with some of my scraps... and I think I'll make a pile of them for Christmas gifts... who knows, maybe one of the kids will get a pool so they can host next years barbecues.
The can wraps worked wonderfully! I didn't find even one half finished can while I was cleaning up. If you hate waste like I do, you have to have a pile ready for your next get together.
I'm going to have more BBQ aprons ready for our next picnic too. They must have noticed the dark circles under my eyes because I had lots of help at the grill... I worried about them ruining their clothes though and didn't have aprons to go around. Next year will be a different story! (Something tells me the addition won't be finished and I'll appreciate any help I can get at the grill.)
