Pattern Searches
Monday November 3, 2008
I have a gazillion patterns.... so many that it's usually easier to glance through pattern books and buy a new one than it is to try and find the pattern I want. Then there are those patterns that you wish you had bought and then can't find it when you are ready to buy it. There is a solution! The forum on this site brings together many sewing minds to fill in our memory blanks and to offer suggestions for which pattern might work best to fill our needs.

Make your own pattern book by photocoping the cover of your patterns and filing in a binder in the same order as the books in the store. Yes, it will be a big job to start with but easy to keep up.
I have a collection of approximately 4000 patterns. I’ve been sewing for 40 years for myself, family and public and have NEVER thrown away a pattern! I actually DID copy the pattern envelopes and made my own “catalogs” using tabs from old discarded pattern books from a fabric store. My patterns are filed numerically, paying no attention to name brand, in a pattern cabinet. When I look for a pattern, I simply find it in my catalog, then go to the cabinet and look for it in numerical order! This has simplified the pattern search emensly!!!!
