Odd Sewing Notions and Tools

By March 28, 2009

Follow me on:

This week I was helping out a friend with a ballet costume for an up coming production. I used the hated packaging as a stiffener to make butterfly wings stand up perfectly. Then I grabbed a dowel that was semi sharpened to continue stuffing "Susie" Dolls. Which got me wondering what strange things other people who sew keep as a sewing notion or tool.

I use all sorts of random objects to sew. I cut boxes to whatever shape I need to make pencil holders, magazine boxes, etc (then slip fabric over). The rubber rolls of shelf-liner are great for keeping things from sliding around. And I use plant hooks to hang things in the sewing area. I’m sure more things you would find odd will come to me later.
