Scratched Glasses

I'm at a stage that I don't need to wear my glasses all the time... but I need them often enough that I always have them with me... which leads to me setting them down and them getting beat up all the time... and scratched lenses because of it. I need to make an eyeglass case for all the places I usually set them down. Maybe then I will actually keep them from getting scratched. I know better than to think I would actually carry a case from location to location so I'm going to use production sewing methods to make a half dozen eyeglass cases.

Nice glasses case, I need one for my sunglasses in the car and then to my purse. But for home I like the one someone talked about (Here?) made with a short pringles can- linned with fleece/something soft/ and glued to a heavy card or something. I’ve used this idea and just used glue to cover cardboard and the can with fabric. Add the fleece linning and glue the whole thing together to keep it really upright. (Also keeps the glasses from being squished! UGH!)
I really like the idea of using an empty Pringles can!
I like the idea of a Pringles can for glases. Unlike Debbie, I am never without glasses, but WHICH glasses is another questioh. I’m a computer game buff and had reading glasses made to play them. I need my progressives whenever I leave home, so exchange the reading glasses for the progressives. I also need sunglasses when I leave home. I have a walking pair of sunglasses for the house and a driving pair of sunglasses that remain in the car. At least the car has a glasses case built into a holder abouve the reaview mirror. Home is where I need the cases. I was so happy when I saw the newsletter with a pattern for glasses case. Then, then I saw the Pringles can suggestion. That is the best idea yet. However, I may use one of the coffee cups I collect from all over instead of the can. I don’t carry cases with me, just the glasses on my nose where they belong, so what I need isn’t so much a case as a holder for the glasses I’m not wearing at the moment. With a can, you can go crazy decorating it and end up with something spectacular. But, I think I may just drop mine in a cup, a small vase, a seasonal decoration, etc. But, without the Pringle can suggestion, I may never have thought of it. Thanks
debbie — Please send a copy of the survey you did re WalMart and them discontinuing their fabric department to the President of Walmart. It might help them reconsider if they see the results of that survey. Definitely can’t hurt. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Why not wear a specs cord around you neck – I wear contacts but need ready readers for close work – I just have to reach for them attached to the cord around my neck wherever I am. No creative sewing required, unless you want to make a decorative cord.
Or better yet let Walmart drop the fabric line and then there MIGHT be a small business in fabric open in your neighborhood and they would have GOOD quality fabric to offer. Unlike Walmart that has the cheapest fabric made with so much sizing that when we wash something we have made w/their fabric it never looks the same as before it is washed–or it shrinks. Trust competition to make things better.
The easiest solution is to wear a cord around neck. Plus you can have few spare pairs of glasses. Fortunately you can buy prescription glasses cheap online. Check glasses frames.
I loved this idea and made myself several eye glass cases to place in the rooms around my house. This is the one of the best idea I have gotten from this web site.
