Asking for Your Help! What Have You Made?

I love the emails I receive from everyone thanking me for the free patterns and letting me know they appreciate the site and the work I put into offering all of the free patterns. Those emails are very encouraging and help me keep on plugging away. I wish there were more hours in a day so that I could make everything on the site in different fabrics to inspire everyone.

Now I want to ask for your help! I would really, really, really love to see some of the things everyone has made from the many free patterns on the site! The fabric you chose may inspire someone to try something more than the colors I chose. This form will help you share with everyone and help inspire others to try new projects.

Hi Debbie! I’ve been looking through your patterns (thank you so much for them), and I plan, Lord willing, to make a chef’s hat for my husband. Lord willing, I’ll get that done this weekend, and I’ll try to post a picture here for you. This has been the only place I could find a pattern for one! Thanks again. Linda

And I forgot to say earlier that I LOVE that you use the term “pocketbook” in some of the tutorials. I grew up in the South (the Lord bless it!) and that’s what we called them. Thank you for that good memory.

Hi Debbie,

Have made many things from your patterns. For Christmas made 14 can wraps. For myself bag holder for plastic bags, tissue holder, cover for garden bucket with the pockets which saves so many steps when gardening or any yard work, blender and can opener covers, serger covers. Know there are more but don’t recall right now. Thank you for your dedication in helping us and giving us opportunities to stretch our sewing abilities.
Curious about the new project you’ve teased us about. May you and your family have a great New Year.

Thank you for for all your tutorials. While I may not use all of them, I find inspiration in reading them all and look forward to your e-mails. I do not do facebook or twitter.

Now for the baskets. We have numerous cats. They all love to sleep in baskets. We make little cushions for the baskets and most of them have their own preferred basket. “Don’t you dare get in my basket!” Great way to use scrap material.

First of all I want to say that I love your site. I never delete any of my emails from you, I save them in a special folder because you have shared so much information and patterns on sewing. I am teaching myself to sew by buying things at festivals and so forth, then I use it at a pattern. With all that being said, I need a simple pattern for a wheel chair bag. My mother-in-law is in a nursing home and needs one for here wheel chair. I want it to be really nice, but again, I am a work in progress. Think simple please. Thanks for all your great advice. :)

Hi Debbie, I want you to know that I used one of your tote patterns to make several for my daughters and daughter-in-law for Christmas. It’s the large one with the pretty fabric around the outside that is really pockets for sundry items. I reinforced the bottom to make it stand up well. One of my daughters and her two children are great library users and use the tote to carry books back and forth. Another uses hers for shopping at the farmer’s market in her town. For hers I used a veggie fabric for the outside. She loves it. My daughter-in-law uses hers for toting her loads back and forth to school. She’s a middle school teacher. She says she also uses it for the groceries she sometimes picks up on her way home from work. I’m just thrilled with that pattern and plan to use it for years to come for any occasion gifts.

I made (I think it is called) the saddle-bag pocketbook. Here in the west we call them purses……… I have actually made two with additions. The first one I made I put pockets on the outside gusset for my sunglasses and phone plus a zipper pocket in the lining. But I didn’t like the vast open space so I made another one with two additional pockets on the inside. One pocket I sewed down the middle and it is perfect for holding my Kleenex and coin purse. The other pocket divides the section. I put my wallet in on one side and my calendar on the other. I also added the aforementioned pockets to the second one. I really like it now and get lots of comments on it. I used a light weight denim.
