My Tomato Plants

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know I live in the northeast and winter can seem to drag on forever. This year has been exceptionally mild and I'm hoping spring is early.  A couple of weeks ago, it was an exceptional warm day and I was antsy for the spring weather... spring means getting dirt under your fingernails in my mind.  So I went out to the storage building and dug out the plant starting stuff.  Then I found the tomato seeds I had bought the first time I saw garden seeds in the store. I got dirt under my finger nails that day and now those little tomato seedlings have more than four leaves each.  They even smell like tomato plants if you touch them.    I planted green peppers that same day and those are coming along but not as rapidly as my tomato plants.  I love a fresh tomato and can't wait for my little plants to be productive... I may be using my garden tools in the house if winter does decide to kick in so I can keep transplanting the seedlings into bigger containers. The bucket organizer of planting tools is in the garage and it's filthy so I am getting a new bucket at the home improvement store and I'm going to make a nice clean bucket organizer for my indoor gardening addiction. Maybe I'll even splurge on all new gardening tools to keep in the house for my houseplants when the "garden" plants make it into the garden.

We actually brought a potted grape-tomato plant inside last fall, and ate off that plant until Jan….so try things on the other end, too. Isn’t fufn that he tiney immerging leaves smell like the real product? I have geranium plantlets, tiny little leaves, but still smell like the flowers. A Happy discovery!

We did that with a really pretty hot pepper plant. It didn’t last in the house but it was worth the try.

I have mine out in the garden and already have a tiny green tomato on one. Of course I live in North Florida, so we get started a bit earlier than some of you. I’m getting excited about them and my pepper plants too.
