When I was little, my Mom made the most beautiful new Easter dresses for us. The one I remember the most was a yellow dress with scallops at every edge... neckline, hem etc. I hope some of the clothing I have made for my girls holds the same kind of special memories. Many people hesitate when it comes to sewing for the boys but they deserve the opportunity to have the same kind of special memories. You can always make them shirts and pants but I will share that one of the favorites in my household has always been homemade boxers. With the season's changing, it's time to get to work on the wardrobe changes.... and maybe some wonderful memories while you're at it...

I have a picture of myself in the first grade, in a dress my mom made for me. She smocked the front of it.
My mom made dresses without a pattern. I think she probably took a dress apart and used that as a guide. That would have been about 1946 or 47.
