Homemade paper Dolls
A project to make with your preschoolers to expand their sewing interests and use up small fabric scrapes.
Materials Needed
- Print out of templates for doll and clothes
- Posterboard
- yarn or scrapes of doll hair
- Markers or crayons
- bits of hook and loop tape (Velcro)
- Fabric scrapes
- Iron on Interfacing
Directions
Trace doll and base templates on to posterboard.
Let the kids use their imagination to colr in a face, fingers,glue on hair and decorate their doll.
Glue velcro on to Doll at points marked "X"
For Clothing: using your scrapes iron on interfacing to back of fabric. Cut out clothing and glue velcro on to the back of clothing pieces to line up with velcro pieces on the doll.
Tips
As your children get older, let them do some of their designing.
Let the kids glue trim and buttons on the clothing.
