Choosing Thread Thread - you will need a good quality all purpose thread for this project. There is a huge variety of thread available in today's market. Your first instinct may be to hit the bargain bin of 5 for $1 thread. Don't do it. This thread is inferior and throws off excess lint in your sewing machine. Many times it has knots and lumps and caused poor machine performance. Many sewing machine dealers make recommendations for thread when you buy a machine.
Choose a color that is as close as possible to the fabric you will be using.
