Emergency Repair Sewing Kit

Traveling Sewing Kit

Rips and tears happen at home and they are bound to happen when kits travel. Here's a way for the kids to be prepared for the unexpected problem.

Materials Needed

  • A Small puncture proof container (such as a small lozenger tin)
  • A small 3" square piece of light weight cardboard (a piece of cereal box)
  • Needles and thread
  • Safety pins (a couple in a variety of sizes)
  • A couple of standard size buttons

Directions

Collect all the items on the above list.

Make slots in two sides of the piece of cardboard.

Thread a couple of hand sewing needles with basic thread colors.

Wrap the thread around the cardboard and tuck the needle into the thread.

Tips

line

Small scissors are a great addition but can be dangerous if they get into the wrong hands. Use a parents discretion.

A safety pin can be used for a zipper pull if one breaks while your away.
