BICYCLE HANDLE BAR POUCH

You will need fabric ( I prefer upholstry fabrics) 12" X 20" and an 11" piece of velcro, cut into two- 3 " pieces and one 5" piece.

1.On one end of the fabric piece, from sides, measure in 2 1/2" and mark. Then on long sides, measure down 7".Connect these two marks and cut off leaving tapered sides on this one end. This will be the upper edge of the bag.

2. Serge finish the upper edge and the tapered edges and the opposite (lower) end.

3. On the lower end, and on the outside (right side), measure up 4 1/2" and stitch on the 5" velcro hook side, parallel to the bottom edge.

4.Measure 7" from the upper edge(tapered end) and 2" in from the sides and mark. Place 3" strips of the velcro at these marks with hooks and loops oposite of each other. These will be parallel to the sides of the pouch. NOTE: The hooks will be face up and the loops should be face down. Stitch in place at the 7" placement mark only, leaving the opposite ends free.

5. On the upper edge and on the wrong or inside, stitch on a 5" strip of velcro loops.

6. Fold bottom edge up 6 1/2", Wrong sides together and serge sides together. NOTE: You can also fold with right sides together if you don't want the seams on the out side. I use deco thread so we work with seams on the outside.

7. Turn pouch inside out and fold corners to miter and stitch 1" from point of corner. This will square off the bottom.

8. Turn bag right side out and you have your bike pouch. Wrap the velcro strips around your favorite bike's handle bars.

Hope this all makes sense. It sure is easier to show someone how to do it.

Happy Sewing!
