Christmas Crackers

Materials Needed For Each Christmas Cracker

  • 10" square of Christmas fabric
  • One empty Toilet paper cardboard roll
  • Enough Pine Scented Potpourri to fill the toilet paper tube 3/4 full
  • One meter (39") Of Gathered Lace for Trim
  • Ribbon - approximately one yard or meter.

Assembly Directions

    1. With right sides together, sew lace edging to opposite edges of the fabric, sewing inside the gathers of the lace.
    2. Turn one unfinished edge under and press the seam allowance.

    3. Center the cardboard toilet paper roll on the unfinished edge and roll it to cover it with fabric, towards the finished edge. Pin the finished edge into place and stitch it closed using a slip stitch.
    4. Tie one end off with a ribbon.

    5. Fill the tube approximately 3/4 of the way with potpourri.
    6. Tie off the opposite end.

    7. Place on the tree for a lovely pine scent that will last through out the holidays.

Note From Debbie
I made the ones pictured but had no potpourri in the house, so I trimmed a few pine trees that were out side, crushed up the little branches and needles to fill the cracker. Perfect Pine scent!
I also tried one with flat lace. Although it is nice, I do like the effect of gathered trim better. The one using flat lace is the top one in the photo.
