Puyallup Sewing Expo!

After traveling across the USA, I am attending the renowned Sewing and Stitchery Expo located in Puyallup, WA! Those of you that follow the sewing lists and forums, know the excitement that surrounds this event. Join me as I share photos of the surroundings, meet with people I have conversed with in email, the businesses I have only meet on line, and explore the largest consumer sewing show in the United States.
As I'm sure you've gathered, I love the internet and I love sewing! The Internet gives us to access to so many resources, but I can not begin to describe seeing the things that are offered, first hand and touching the item before ordering. The classes are phenomenal!
Never before have I been anywhere with so much inspiration for the home sewer... even on a jaunt to the famous NYC Fashion District!
I'll be attending the show each day. Stay tuned... as soon as I am back home, there is even more that I can't wait to tell you about! I've gone totally insane buying patterns.. I even have one, for a jacket, that is just two pattern pieces. I do believe it is simple enough for my 7 year old to make with just a little help.

How many times have you admired the items seen on the cover of Sew News or Creative Machine Embroidery? Being at the Expo, many of the actual items are displayed and special subscription rates are offered. There is a drawing for a sewing basket, free mints to keep your energy level up and free shopping bags. Being on the internet you have probably received a newsletter from at least one of the people in this photo. (From left to right, Linda Griepentrog, Marla Stefanelli, Debbie Colgrove and Annette Bailey)
Before the doors are open, people were lined up and waiting.. within seconds of the doors opening, the isles filled with consumers anxious to see the latest and greatest the industry has to offer. People that I had the opportunity to talk with, explained how they save their vacation time for the expo.

Most of us receive Stephen's newsletter and shop on line at Fabric.com. (Sorry.. I tired, but Stephen declined being in the picture... you'll have to go to the show to meet him in person.) |
