Locating Discontinued PatternsDateline: 08/14/98 Updated: 01/30/04As major sewing pattern manufacturers change their pattern books, some of us are in search of patterns that have been discontinued. Here you'll find sources for tracking down the pattern that seems impossible to find.
Kwik Sew | Reader's Mail | More Resources Simplicity Pattern Company Simplicity Pattern Co. has a wealth of information on their website. Simplicity recycles their patterns after one year in their own paper mill to make new patterns. For information on obtaining discontinued patterns:
McCall's Visit the McCall's Pattern Company website for contact information on all aspects. The following information is only for obtaining discontinued patterns. McCall's will keep their discontinued patterns in stock for 1 year or until they are sold out. After one year they recycle the paper. They do have a list of resources for discontinued patterns, including the Internet, if they are unable to help you.
Butterick Butterick Pattern Company has many avenues for you to follow. Follow the Feedback link on their site for all contact information. The following information is only for discontinued pattern information.

Kwik Sew Patterns Kwik Sew Patterns unfortunately does not have any way to access a pattern that is out of print. According to their company spokes person, once a pattern is out of print it is not available. I would suggest that you investigate the various Kwik Sew Dealer on the net. Kwik Sew also has a worldwide contact information page which may help you find a local dealer. You may still get lucky. Readers Mail Readers Mail publishes a catalogue of over 300 Childrens, Misses and Women's discontinued patterns. They don't have a web site yet, but can be contacted by phone or mail.
More Resources The Internet is an endless source of information. The patter sources listed in this article are the most commonly searched for, but far from being the only pattern companies.
