Plastic Canvas USA Flag Pattern
Submitted by Barbara Latniak
Using 7 mesh plastic canvas make 14 stitches in blue yarn across and 14 stitches down. This is your star field. Then make your first row of red yarn 21 stitches - for 2 rows. Alternate red & white until you are at the bottom, then do your red & white stitches all the way across, until you have completed at 13 stripes. Outline your flag with gold yarn in a blanket stitch. This will make a flag that is 4 1/4" by 5 1/2". Add seed pearls for your stars or do French knots. There will be enough room for all 50 stars if you use seed pearls. This is big enough to be seen if displayed on your windshield visor or it may be attached to you mailbox, computer, desk, etc. Warning! Do not attach to your vehicle antenna - the plastic canvas will rip and the weight of it may damage your antenna. (Trust me on this - I tried it & watched the antenna flop about wildly & am currently trying to repair the rip - but the stitches held so I think I can fix it.)
