Happy Spring Yard Flag - Page 3

Cutting And Sewing Procedure:

Set your sewing machine for a medium width zig zag that is not as tight as satin stitch but enough to hold the fabric layers. For this flag, I set the zig zag at 2.5 stitch width and 0.8 stitch length.
Make some curved lined on a few of your scraps and practice before you actually start on the flag, to get the feel of how to control curves and sliding fabric.

Sewing The Letters

With your letters pinned in to place, stitch on the lines that you transferred to the fabric. Trim away the fabric that is not the color where you want it. For example, on my flag I used a blue background and wanted white letters. I trimmed the blue from the area with in the letters and trimmed the extra white fabric from the edges of the letters.
