Decorative Machine Stitches
Experiment! Experiment! Experiment!

So many of us, have sewing machines with all kinds of stitch possibilities that we never use. By experimenting with specialty threads and our scraps, we can do embellishments that we never would have been able to years ago. Now is the time to start experimenting. Before you know it, using all those built in stitches will be second nature!

I recently brought home the Elna 6005, that I talked about in my Local Learning Experience. The machine is an absolute dream and I am determined to play and use all the built in possibilities. Appliques are just one of the many, many possibilities.

Just like when you change the stitch length and stitch width on a zig zag stitch, many other stitches can change their appearance. Never be afraid to experiment with the possibilities. Just remember to play on your scrapes, as many of the decorative stitches are so dense that ripping them out will create a mess!

Due to the variations in available stitches, I am showing you some samples of what is possible. Please experiment with the capabilities of your machine and see what you can create. Feel free to share your creations by submitting a short write up and photos. Learning is a never ending process and we can all learn from each other!
