Sew the Side Seams

Debbie Colgrove, Licensed to About.com
  • Place wrong sides together again, aligning the side edges.
  • Measure 10 to 14 " down from the should seam on each side for the start of the side seams. (10" for a small adult, 15" for a large to extra large adult.)
  • Sew a 10" to 15" side seam starting at the above measurement working toward the hemline, using a 1/2" or the hem edges as a seam allowance.
  • Do not sew the entire side so that walking in the robe is comfortable.
  • Back stitch at the ends of the seams to reinforce the seams.
