The Leaves
  • Remove the paper backing if it is present.
  • Working on your ironing board, arrange the leaves and acorns on the shirt front. Try not to leave small points that would be difficult to satin stitch.
  • Remove the acorns and press the leaves in place.
  • Starting with the leaves that are the furthest back, Satin Stitch the edges. I used a zig zag stitch that was 3.0 wide and .50 long for the edges of the leaves. The leaf stems were covered with a satin stitch that was 7.0 wide and .50 long. The center vein of the leaves was sewn with a 1.0 wide and .50 long stitch. The veins throughout the leaves were sewn with a regular straight stitch and a triple stitch (or straight stretch stitch). Experiment to find the look you want to achieve.
  • Tip: Use needle up and needle down to "walk" the machine to the corners.
  • Press.

The Acorns
  • Arrange the acorns as desired.
  • Remove the acorn hats and press the nut part in place.
  • Satin Stitch the nut except at the top edge that the "hat" lines up to.
  • Place the hats back in place and press in place.
  • Satin stitch around the entire hat.
  • Press well and enjoy your shirt!
