You may have heard people who love appliqué talk about a light box. A light box is a great way to see through fabric to trace a template... but EVERYONE has a a light box in their home... a window! My neighbors should be used to me having multi- sized patterns taped to my sliding glass door...it's the easiest way to see the lines I want without cutting the original pattern, leaving it usable for the other sizes.
- Tape the pattern or template to the window.
- Place the fabric or pattern tracing material over the pattern and tape or pin in place.
- Trace the desired lines on the the fabric.
- Lines in the middle of an appliqué, such as the leaf veins in this example, can be transfered using a vanishing ink so they will disapear after the sewing is done.
