Sew a Personal Care Kit for Charity

Debbie Colgrove, Licensed to About.com
This simple project is a wonderful charity item. Many domestic violence shelter residents end up there with nothing but the clothes on their back. Fire and flood victims usually end up out of their home grateful to be alive but without any of their belongings. The Red Cross can not accept these kits due to federal regulations but many churches and shelters would be thrilled to receive these kits. Use your groups skills to sew up a pile in an afternoon!

Materials:

  • A washcloth
  • Approximately 24" of ribbon- 1/4" to 1/2" wide - economical craft ribbon is fine
  • A sewing machine with thread to match the washcloth
  • A variety of travel or trial size personal care items.(If you are sewing these for charity, ask for a discount with your club or group id explaining the purpose for your purchase.}
