Dress up an Inexpensive Sweat Shirt

  • Turn the sweat shirt wrong side out.
  • Mark the vertical center front of the shirt.
  • Line up the sleeve seams and bottom edge to lay the shirt flat and as square as possible on a flat surface.
  • Line up one corner of the square fabric with each sleeve center (where the sleeve is folded) and one corner with the center front. Matching fuzzy side of the sweat shirt to the right side of the cotton fabric.
  • Lay flat and pin into place
  • Turn the shirt over and do the same for the back side of the shirt.
  • Following the stitch lines, starting with stitching near the edge of th square, use a shortened and wide zig zag stitch on all the stitching lines. Be careful to keep all layers flat and smooth. Trim away the center of the square, near the stitching to open the neckline.
