The
Free Simple String Drawstring Backpack Pattern uses strings or cord as straps and to close the bag. The strings work fine but if you are carrying weight in the bag for any length of time, the strings can become uncomfortable. These twisted cord straps offer an alternative to the simple strings and are more comfortable when worn for a length of time.
To create the twisted cord straps you will need:
- The basic drawstring backpack, except for the eyelets and string type drawstring
- Approximately 6 yards of 3/8" cording
- 1 1/2" wide bias tape to cover the cord
- Buttonhole sewing capabilities on your sewing machine
