The Lining

  • Create optional inside pockets, remembering that 1/2" in from all edges is needed for seam allowances and that 2 1/2" in from the bottom 12 1/2" edge will be used in the bottom of the bag.
  • Place lining pieces, wrong sides together, aligning all edges.
  • Sew one bottom 12 1/2" edge and both 10 1/2" edges using a 1/2" seam allowance.
  • Apply a seam finish.
  • Finish the bottom corners the same way you did for the body of the bag.
  • Place the bag (right sides out) inside the lining (wrong side out on the lining so right sides are together).
  • Match edges and seams.
  • Pin in place.
  • Sew the layers together 1/2" in from edge, leaving an opening to turn the bag right side out and to slide the optional bag base/bottom through. (The amount of opening will vary on how much batting and interfacing you used.)
