Hardware That Can be Used to Sew in a Key Holder

I don't care how many attempts and ways I try to organize my pocketbook, my keys seem to disappear inside it and I have to search through everything to find the keys. That is not a safe situation when I'm in unfamiliar territory.

Anyone who has tried grocery shopping with a couple of toddlers knows, you need extra arms to keep everything under control and finding your keys had better be an easy task if you don't want those toddlers to take off running in the parking lot. Let's face it, keeping your keys readily available and easy to find is one of the ways you can stay safe no matter where you are.

I took my lead from my husband. He has a HUGE key chain of work keys... and has had me mending many a ripped belt loop because he clips them to his belt loop with the carabiner that he has on those keys. I'm not going to clip my keys to a belt loop but I can use that idea on all of my pocketbooks to keep my keys in one spot where I an always put my hand right on them! A visit to the sewing notions wall and the hardware section of a home improvement store proved I can solve this problem for a couple of dollars and it doesn't have to be a carabiner.

Most of my purchased handbags have some type of ring hardware where the strap is attached and I can just use that ring to clip the keys on to with the carabiner.

So what is a carabiner you ask... it was originally intended for sports and mountain climbing so they can be pretty darn strong when you consider that someones life depends on it holding. You can also buy carabiners that are less expensive that are made specifically for keys, many with webbing attached to them for under a dollar. You can find them at box stores, lumber yards, hardware stores and even dollar stores. I now have either a carabiner or swivel snap hook on every set of keys of keys that I own.

There are more options available to meet all kinds of needs. At a sewing or fabric store that carries sewing hardware to meet all of your sewing needs, you'll find a huge selection of rings and rectangles in different sizes. A swivel snap hook is also a solution to instantly clip things too. Look around and experiment to find what works for you to meet your needs.
