Cutting, Marking and Interfacing

The Fashion Fabric

  • Front and Back -- Cut four of the pattern piece, using the line on the pattern piece as a grain line. Cut the outer fabric on the line for the zipper placements.
  • Bottom and Sides -- Cut one strip of the fabric 4 1/2" by 23" for the sides of the body of the bag. Mark the center of the 32" edge. Mark 9" in from each end on the long edges. Mark the center of the long edge on both edges.
  • Sides of the Zipper -- Cut two strips of fabric 2 1/4" wide by 14" for the zipper section on the sides of the body of the bag.
  • Straps -- Cut two strips of fabric 4" by 27".
  • Fuse interfacing to the wrong side of each piece.
The Lining Fabric
  • Cut two of the pattern piece (Cut four if you want the same pockets inside the bag. Repeat the outer bag directions if you desire the interior pockets)
  • Cut one strip of lining 4 1/2" x 23".
  • Cut two strips 2 1/4" wide by 14"
  • Interface all lining pieces.
