Lay Out on 60" Wide Doubled Fabric

The Pattern Pieces
  • Using a print out of the pattern piece, cut one pattern piece that will be double the printed pattern piece by using the "on fold" on the pattern piece to line up the pattern piece on a doubled piece of paper or pattern making material.
  • If you are not using rotary cutting tools, use pattern making material to create a pattern piece 24" by 13" for the body of the bag and a pattern piece 2 1/4" by 36"(or desired length strap) for the strap.
  • Optional: Create a 3 " square that will be used as a tab to close the top of the bag
Cutting the Fabric:
  • Pattern Piece - Cut 4 of fabric and 4 of interfacing (two on doubled fabric)
  • Body of Bag - Cut two of outer fabric and cut 2 of lining - 24" by 13"
  • Strap - Cut 4 - 2 1/4" by 36"(or desired length strap)
  • Optional: Closing Tab - Cut two of fabric and two of interfacing - 3 " square
Cutting the Interfacing
  • Cut 4 of the top of the bag and fuse to the wrong sides of the fabric.
  • Optional:Cut two of the tab and fuse to the tab fabric pieces.
Lining
  • Cut two of the body of the bag.
