I am sending my 2 1/2 year old daughter's Genie Costume. This is a pattern I picked up at Joann Fabrics for Erin from Butterick #P420 (6200). Since my daughter is only 2 1/2, this is
probably the only year I will be able to choose her costume for her...as she
gets older I will have to make what she picks out. I have only been sewing
since March of this year but have become so addicted to this hobby I have
been a sewing fiend ever since. I chose Pink Tafetta as the main fabric of
the costume and an Iridescent Pink Sheer fabric for the sleeves and veil. I
did not find the actual pattern difficult...although now I am an expert at
bias tape and elastic casings...I found them everywhere on the directions!!
But I did find the taffeta to be very fragile and the sheer fabric to
'shred' on me. As I mentioned I am a beginner sewer and haven't had the
experience of sewing with a variety of fabrics and decided to just 'wing it'
with this particular project.
I totally enjoy sewing now and am so glad I brushed my fears aside and decided to give it a try. I am completely happy with the way this Costume turned out and my daughter looked adorable for Halloween!
