My youngest daughter wanted desperately to be a princess. I made her one with a purchased pattern. I do remember that her wig cost me more that the fabric for the rest of the costume. Inexpensive craft lace trimmed the dress. The fabric was found on a bargain rack. She felt special and that was all that mattered.
Making the kids happy is the bast part of a costume!
