Economical Way to Have Extra Wide Fabric

Extra Wide Fabric for Duvet Covers,Home Dec, Curtain and Drapery Lining and More

By , About.com Guide

If you're looking for extra wide fabric for drapery or curtain lining, backing for a duvet cover or bed spread, or any other sewing project that requires wide fabric, that you do not want to sew a seam to join them, extra wide fabric is available but a clearance sale on flat sheets may be a more economical solution when you need extra wide fabric. It is a good idea to buy the next size up when you can. For example, if you need fabric to back a duvet cover for a full size bed, buy a queen size flat sheet, not a full size sheet. That way you have the extra fabric for seams. Always preshrink your sheets before sewing them into a project.

Don't forget the fleece and flannel sheets when you want an alternative to fabric that would ship and slid. A flannel fabric is more likely to stay in place and not slid off the bed when you need a duvet or bedspread backing.
