Spread the mood of the holiday into your yard and bring a smile to people who pass by your home, as well as those who came to visit, by decorating your yard with a Valentine's Day Flag.

Materials Needed:

  • Nylon or Broad Cloth fabric. The flag shown here is done in nylon that I have gathered from a local department store $1 per yard table. For a standard flag that is 3' by 5' you will need 2 yards of 60" wide fabric. However you can make a slightly smaller flag from one yard of background fabric. The size difference is not extreme. The flag shown here is made from using half of one yard of 60" wide fabric.
  • Sharp scissors - Making these flags may be the perfect excuse to invest in a good pair of applique scissors.
  • Thread
  • Carbon or dressmakers marking paper
  • Pins
  • Pencil or ball point pen
  • A sewing machine with zig zag capabilities
