Using an Oven Mitt to Make a Pattern:
  • Press the mitt as flat as possible
  • Lay it on a piece of plain paper or pattern tracing material.
  • Trace the edges of the mitt.
  • Add a 1/2" to all edges.
  • Mark the bottom of the thumb indent. [lil]Cut the pattern out using the outside line create by adding a 1/2".
Using Your Hand to Create an Oven Mitt Pattern:
  • Keeping your fingers together and your thumb extended, trace around your hand.
  • Smooth the lines to create a "mitt" appearance, approximately an inch from the edges of the traced hand.
  • Add a 1/2" to the edges.
  • Mark the bottom of the thumb indent.
  • Cut out the pattern using the outside line from adding a 1/2".
