- Guide the elastic into the casing using a safety pin or bodkin. Pinning the opposite end of the elastic to the body of the liner helps prevent it from going all the way into the casing, losing the end.
- Pin the ends of the elastic together allowing them to overlap.
- Test the fit on the basket. Depending on the type of edge on the basket, you may want to trim away some elastic to help the liner stay in place.
- When you are happy with the way the elastic fits as well as, goes on and off the basket, securely sew the overlapped ends of the elastic together.
- Pull the elastic the rest of the way into the casing by stretching the elastic and liner.
- Finish sewing the casing closed by sewing over a few stitches on each side of the opening.
- Place the liner on the basket and enjoy.
