Marking the Parts of the Flag

The Flag Letters
Assemble the letters that you are going to use. Tape the paper templates together keeping the letters an even distance from each other. Test the size and placement on the background fabric. Once you are pleased with the size and placement, cut a strip of fabric the color that you want for the letters, that is long enough for the letters. Leave a few inches of extra fabric on all sides on the letters.
On a hard surface, place the fabric, a piece of carbon (marking side down towards the fabric, and the letters. Pin them together just enough to keep things from slipping. Using a pen or ball point pen, trace the outline of the letters so that the carbon marks the fabric.
Repeat for any other letters or words that you are going to place on your flag.
Pin the lettering fabric in place on the flag background.

Flowers And Stems
Choose the colors of fabric you will be using for each flower and stem. Follow the same procedure to transfer the templates on to the fabric, that you used to mark the letters.
Place and pin the flowers on the background. Don't be afraid to play with the placements and the amount of flowers you want on your flag.
