  • Turn a shirt right side out and check again that all layers are smooth, un-stretched and flat.
  • Loosen the tightening mechanism on the bottom or outside embroidery hoop.
  • Slide the bottom part of the machine embroidery hoop inside the shirt, guesstimating to place it as close to the area it will be used as possible.
  • Lay the inside part of the machine embroidery hoop on top of the shirt.
  • Line up the markings you made on the fabric with the markings on the embroidery hoop to center the hoop and have it placed to center the embroidery design.
  • Work the bottom of the embroidery hoop to line up with the top layer of the embroidery hoop. Be careful not to stretch or distort any of the fabric or stabilizer as you arrange the hoop.
  • When you are pleased with the fabric and stabilizer being flat and smooth, and the hoop being perfectly in place, insert the top layer of the hoop into the bottom layer of the hoop with the fabric and stabilizer between them.
  • Check again for the fabric to be smooth, flat, un-stretched and that there are no tucks in the fabric as it is held by the hoops.
  • Tighten the hoop to securely hold the fabric.
Re-do this process as many times as it takes to hoop the fabric so it is un-stretched and smooth!
