While experimenting with ways to transfer doll embroidery face details, I used standard methods and then purchased a Dritz Iron On Transfer Pencil to see if it could save me some time.
Creating the Iron On
I found creating the iron on an easy to accomplish task by using a window as a light box to transfer the pattern markings to a plain piece of transfer paper. It may have been even easier if I had white tissue paper to use as an iron on transfer paper.
Ironing the Transfer
The directions on the packaging are easy to use and emphasis not moving the transfer paper while you are ironing the design. I was careful and found it did not smudge as I transferred the design to the fabric.
Multiple Uses
I did attempt using the iron on transfer made with the pencil more than once. The second transfer was much lighter but very usable for me to embroider the dolls facial details. I did not attempt a third as I envisioned it would be too light to see the details.
I wouldn't hesitate to use this pencil to transfer designs I wanted to hand embroider, paint or embellish.

Limited to Red
I have only found the pencil in red. I would love to find it in yellow or light blue so that any transfer left showing would not be as obvious when working on light color fabric.
