When you get dressed are you looking for comfort? Are you looking for clothing that is stylish but comfortable to wear? Do your teenagers and collage students think the pattern books are out of touch with what they like to wear? I invite you to take a look at Yoshiko Tsukiori's, Stylish Dress Book. I had to get this book back from my college daughter in order to share the information in this review.

When I look at clothing, I look for comfort. If you only give this book a quick glance and think it's teenage styles, you could be short changing yourself. Although the model throughout the book is young and the accessory choices would not be you, I suggest that everyone give this book a through look. The twenty six patterns that are included in the book, offer a multitude of possibilities. Your fabric choices and your possible combinations of fabrics create the garments you want to wear.
The easy fitting patterns allow a breezy comfortable approach to wardrobe additions. Your additions of accessories contributes to the finished appearance. Your imagination is the only limitation of the possibilities for the twenty six patterns. I can see a perfect nighty for a hospital stay that would ensure modesty as well as being comfortable.

When "Stylish Dress Book" entered my home, my college bound daughter spotted it immediately and started picking our dresses that she thought I should make for her to take to college. Time didn't allow for me to fulfill her wishes but since the patterns are so easy fitting, I can easily make the dresses she choose while she is away without being concerned about fitting issues. I'm especially envisioning lace pull overs that are so expensive in the stores.
Pattern R is definitely one of my favorites but that may be the combination of fabrics. The comfortable to wear these is followed through with every pattern in the book. I know my daughter will be thrilled with K and U being made in lace or airy fabric to wear over tight fitting shirts this winter... and over camis in the transitional months of the year.

The Stylish Dress Book includes twenty six full size printed patterns in an envelope which is attached to the inside of the back cover. I love that the envelope is attached so the pattern pieces can be stored with the book. All of the patterns are multi-sized for six different sizes, ranging from size six to size 16. Multi-sized patterns make it easy for people who aren't the same size on the top and bottom.
It is always wise to preserve multi-sized patterns so they are available for re-using in different sizes.
The wonderful illustrations and guides are easy to follow and even show seam finishes so your garment will be something that will wear well for a good long time!

Many of the styles, as they are presented in the book, are not something I would rush out and buy but looking at the style and imagining different fabrics had my imagination running wild. The styles are so comfortable and not fitted clinging styles, I can see jumpers, swim suit cover ups and great comfortable items to wear around the house... as well as simple comfortable summer dresses that would not be clinging on a hot summer day. Considering the number of patterns in the book and my fabric stash the possibilities are endless. Even a penny pincher like me, can see that the cost of the book with twenty six patterns included is an absolute bargain!
