Trace or cut out the pocket in the center of the pattern piece.Cut the pocket by placing the pattern piece on a fold of fabric as directed on the pattern piece.Use the fabric grain line on the pattern piece to pin and cut out the tooth pillow pattern on the straight grain of your fabric.Need help? Using the cutting fold line, fold the pocket so that the right sides are together.Optional: Add seam trims if desired to the open edges of the pocket.Sew the edges using a 1/4" seam allowance and leaving an opening in the bottom to turn the pocket right sides out.Trim the seam allowances at the corners to eliminate bulk in the corners and allow the pocket to lay flat.Turn the pocket right side out. Push the seams to the edges.Fold under the seam allowance where it was left open for turning the pillow right side out.Press, keeping the seams at the edges of the pocket.Place pocket on the pillow front using the placement on the pattern piece as a guide, keeping the folded edge of the pocket at the top.Top stitch the pocket in place, stitching close to the edge on the seamed edges of the pocket, leaving the folded edge open. Optional: Decorate the pillow front with embroidery such as facial features or the child's name. Also sew piping, trim or lace to the front edges if desired.
Place right sides of the cut out pillow pieces together, matching the edges.Pin in place.Sew the edges using a 1/4" seam allowance, leaving the area noted on the pattern piece open.Clip the seams at the curves so they will lay smoothly when turned.Turn right side out and pushing the seams to the edges.
Stuff the pillow, pushing stuffing into the tooth roots and the crown of the tooth first, then filling the entire pillow until it is the firmness that you desire.
