Remnant

By Debbie Colgrove, About.com

Definition: Remnants are discounted small pieces of fabric. They are usually available near the cutting table in fabric stores or departments.

Remnants are usually the end of the bolt of fabric but can also be pieces of fabric with slight damage.

Examples: Remnants are a great way to experiment sewing on different fabrics without making a large investment in fabric.
