From Christiane:
Sewing basket:
  • Cut two fabrics measuring 12.5" x 13.5". (You can use patchwork designs here)
  • Cut the same size for the low batting.
  • Make the sandwich and quilt first with straight stitches 2.5" from the border making a smaller rectangle. Then quilt a grid inside the smaller rectangle.
  • Add the finishing to the borders with bias tape or you can also make the back a little bigger so you can turn it to the inside and sew it.
  • Sew with straight stitches 4 stripes of 20 " long of bias tape.(you can also use a ribbon - in this case you don't need to sew it together)
  • Sew the center of the bias (or ribbon) on each outside corner of the rectangles forming an |__
  • Tie the corners together to close the sewing basket

Pincushion:

  • Using left-over fabric make a small pillow. Stuff it with Polyfill. Sew a button to the center.
