Sewing Cards For Pre Schoolers

Make Your Own Learn To Sew Cards

Here's a project that you can make with your pre schooler so they can sew just like mommy and their older siblings.

Materials Needed

  • Poster board or Oak Tag
  • Basic Character picture from a magazine. coloring book or poster
  • Yarn
  • Transparent Tape
  • Glue
  • Paper Punch
  • Box or envelope for storage

Directions

  • Glue picture to poster board.
  • Cut out character's shape, circle or square.
  • Make evenly spaced paper punch holes around the edge of the card.
  • Tie one end of the yarn through one hole to the card.
  • On the "needle end" of the yarn, roll transparent tape around the end of the yarn to stiffen it and taper into a point.

Tips

  • Look for Dritz Plastic Sewing Needlesto prevent pricked fingers.
  • Let the child use a coloring book picture that they have colored.
  • Use contrasting and bright color yarn to hold their interest.
  • Make a couple of them so you have a back up when they knot the yarn.
