Pinked Seam: A pinked seam is a seam finish created with pinking shears.
When to Use a Pinked Seam Finish: A pinked seam finish is appropriate for fabric that is not prone to a lot of fraying. It is also used on non-fraying bulky fabric, to eliminate the solid heavy line a seam allowance may make on the outside of the item once it is pressed.
How to Create a Pinked Seam Finish:
  1. Sew a Seam.

  2. Before pressing use pinking shears to trim the seam allowance.

  3. Press the seam.
