Accurately transferring pattern markings to your fabric is imperative to correctly assembling a pattern. Learn How to Transfer Pattern Markings and The Types of Tools Used will show you the conventional way to transfer pattern markings but there are times that less is better and the method described here will transfer just the dots without any possible overage from a tracing wheel.
For this method, you will need dressmakers carbon and a ballpoint pen with retractable ink or the ink section removed. When you want the least amount of markings, always use a color of dressmakers carbon that is close to your fabric color but still visible.
Place the carbon on the side of the fabric that needs the marking.
Place the pattern piece on top.
Place the point end of the pen (without the ink) on the dot.
Press down on the pen and "spin" the pen so the dot marking will mark well on the fabric.
