My side business is bag-making, so I primarily use this machine for sewing various kinds of bags of differing sizes and thicknesses. I also do occasional quilting and clothing sewing.
What is your satisfaction level with this machine?
I love this machine. I had my eye on it for a while, but read a full review on the blog portion of u-handbag.com and was convinced to try it. This machine has a load of features that any level of sewer will appreciate. There is a variable speed control (maybe my favorite), an up/down needle position option, an extra lift to the presser foot in case you need just a bit more height to squeeze your sewing underneath, an automatic needle threader, a start/stop button in case you don't have the foot pedal, adorable decorative stitches, and more. It utilizes a class 15 bobbin, and it is a drop-in bobbin system. Pulling up the bobbin thread is super-easy. The instruction manual is very user friendly, and the machine itself is very easy to get used to as well. She has a good motor in her, and has a nice weight to her, but she's not a fancy-schmancy specialty machine where the attachments can break the bank. She's also very difficult to jam up. On some machines if you sew one stitch off the fabric it gets messy; not so with this one (which I appreciate). I am very glad my mother convinced me to treat myself and buy this machine.
Lessons Learned
- My old machine had a 1/4 foot--I knew if I lined up my raw edges with the foot edge it was a 1/4 inch seam. On this one the seam markings are different so it took me a little while to get used to it, but now it's mindless.
- This machine would be great for any level of sewer. It is user friendly enough for a beginning sewer, but has a good amount of features and stamina for experienced sewers as well.
- I would definitely buy this machine again. No question.
