Memory Craft 6500

How you obtained the machine? (gift, bought new, etc)

Bought new.

Approximate age of the machine

5 years.

Approximate price paid for this machine?

$1100

What type of sewing you did/do with this machine?

I sew everything on this machine. I use it mostly to make quilts. I make a few garments. I make bags and purses. I've even made a bimini for our boat. I use it almost daily when I'm home.

What is your satisfaction level with this machine?

In 5 years, the machine has only been to the shop for maintenance once, and that was just to be cleaned. It has sewn anything I have tried to sew on it, from delicate fabrics to tough outdoor fabrics. It has many utility stitches, fancy stitches, buttonholes, and two alphabets. Length and width of all stitches is adjustable. There is a memory function to combine stitches. One of the best features is the thread cutter. It also has a needle down feature and a beginning and ending seam tacking feature. The thread holder accommodates large cones as well as smaller spools.

Lessons Learned

  • This machine is a great buy. If I have to replace it, I might buy the Memory Craft 6600 instead, just because the 6600 has an AccuFeed system which would help with quilting.
