What Model Kenmore Sewing Machine You Own/Owned?

Kenmore 1350 /portable

How you obtained the machine? (gift, bought new, etc)

I bought this machine at a garage sale. I looked like grandma never used it

Approximate age of the machine

I think this machine is from the late 60's which makes her about 45 years

Approximate price paid for this machine?

$45.00 about 30 years ago.

What type of sewing you did/do with this machine?

I do basic sewing with this machine. Straight stitch, zig zag it sews forward and backward. I make fleece and flannel blankets, drapes and sometimes repair clothes. I sew at least once a week. I taught myself to sew using this machine... how to set the tension for diffrent fabrics was a big deal for me.

What is your satisfaction level with this machine?

For the money I paid for this machine it's been a very dependable machine. It's portable and only weighs about 15 lbs. It's easy to operate. I do make sure it's oiled and cleaned on a regular basis. I taught myself to sew on this machine. For a beginning sewer this was a great machine. I never did learn how to make button holes on this machine. It came with a box of presser feet, I never used most of them. For an older girl she still runs great!!!

Lessons Learned

  • You don't have to spend a fortune on a brand new sewing machine. If you're buying the machine 2nd hand ... thread it up and try it out. You don't want to buy a machine and have to spend money on repairs or find out it needs a part that is hard to find or no longer made. Make sure you oil and clean your machine. Make sure you can get an owners manual. Do take the time to read the owners manual.
