Share Your Story: Kenmore Sewing Machine Owners Voice Their Experiences

From Nancy Anthony

What Model Kenmore Sewing Machine You Own/Owned?

385-17324990 I don't remember the name

How you obtained the machine? (gift, bought new, etc)

bought new

Approximate age of the machine

About 5 years ago, as a Christmas gift to myself

Approximate price paid for this machine?

Between $200 and $300 hundred, including tax.

What type of sewing you did/do with this machine?

basic sewing, some clothes. Haven't used it for a couple of years, but want to start again.

What is your satisfaction level with this machine?

I am very satisfied with my machine. It is a good basic machine with several "fancy" stitches, a buttonhole maker and several special feet. For the amount of sewing I do, it is just right. It doesn't thread itself or keep going while I get my coffee, but it does help me make a straight line and thread it correctly (with arrows and lines showing me the way). The front arm comes off for sewing in sleeves and other "round" pieces

Lessons Learned

  • You don't really need an expensive machine, unless you do a lot of sewing, especially professionally. Simple clothes only need simple machines. Should I ever need a new machine, I would get this one again.
